Job Description:
The Facilities Management Department (FM), under the umbrella of Facilities Development and Management (FDM), seeks a Project Manager to perform work of considerable difficulty in concurrently managing multiple, moderately complex projects from inception through project close-out for modifications, alterations, and repairs to existing facilities. Will serve as a team lead and project administrator in a team environment and must be able to react quickly and communicate effectively in a team environment.
Essential Duties:
• Serve as the University’s main point of contact and coordinator of internal team members as well as outside consultants and contractors for assigned projects.
• Lead and coordinate team members during life of a project.
• Effectively lead and support other internal team members during various phases of a project.
• Ensure timely, accurate, and comprehensive documentation of the processes followed, information gathered, decisions made, and milestones passed throughout the life of the project.
• Attend, document, and participate in meetings.
• Document and follow up on meeting decisions and action items.
• Manage project documentation in a timely, accurate, and comprehensive manner.
• Monitor design and construction progress.
• Hold consultants and contractors accountable to deliver services per contract.
• Ensure project compliance with contracted documents.
• Coordinate with University departments and others regarding the procurement and installation of furniture and contracted equipment, telecommunications equipment, interior signage, moving services.
• Regular review of completed tasks.
• Conduct building observations which require walking, climbing stairs and ladders, and walking on uneven surfaces.
• Utilize computer, telephone and office equipment, work with multiple projects.
• Prepare estimates for projects.
• Read plans and specifications.
• Calculate mathematical calculations and use computer applications.
• Oversee construction documents and construction.
• Communicate with architects, users, building occupants, trades staff, contractors and administrators regarding progress.
• Clearly communicate to perform essential functions of the job.
DAYS AND SCHEDULE: Monday - Friday; 7:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
This position is based at ASU’s Tempe campus and will require working from other campuses depending on operational needs.
Salary Rate or Salary Range
$78,000 - $82,000 per year or commensurate of experience and education. ASU offers a comprehensive benefits package with the State of Arizona
Desired Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in a related field AND three (3) years of professional design or construction administration experience, which includes one (1) year of project management experience; OR Seven (7) years of professional design and construction administration experience, which includes one (1) year of project management experience; OR Any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills, and abilities have been achieved.
Evidence of a degree in Construction Management or a Professional Engineer License or equivalent.
Experience in:
• The design and construction of commercial / technical projects range from $10K to $3M. (5 years)

• Leading teams of designers, contractors and subcontractors on design and construction projects.
• Contracting delivery processes; CMAR, Job Order Contracting, Design/Bid/Build
Demonstrated knowledge of:

• Permitting and construction documents (Bluebeam, Adobe, CAD)
• Structural, Mechanical, Electrical or Process Piping Systems.

Working Environment:
• Activities may be performed in a regular, climate-controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting, standing, and walking at job sites.
• Regular use of computer workstations: desktop/laptop computer (keyboard, monitor, mouse), printer etc.
• Required to stand for varying lengths of time and walk moderate distances to perform work.

EMS Technician I
Classification Summary:
Entry-level technician responsible for supporting the operation and maintenance of basic building control systems.

- Support monitoring and basic troubleshooting of EMS/DDC systems
- Install and calibrate sensors, actuators, and other field devices

Fire Alarm Technician I (Entry Level)

Fire Alarm Technician II (Mid-Level)
Experience:
5+ years of experience; NICET II. Advanced diagnostics, inspections, programming, compliance support.
Fire Alarm Technician III (Senior Level)

8+ years of experience; NICET III+. Leads complex inspections, mentors team, on-call lead.
Essential Duties:
• Analyzes blue prints, schematics, and drawings of fire alarm, sprinkler, and other related electrical systems for the purpose of determining the efficient installation of new or upgraded systems and to properly identify current systems.
• May plan the layout and perform installations of new or remodeled alarm systems.
• Performs preventative maintenance and inspections of fire alarm components, systems, and related equipment which includes: starting/stopping equipment, system testing, general cleaning, removing/installing serviceable parts, identifying problems and needed repairs.
• Examines, tests, troubleshoots/diagnoses and completes necessary repairs to alarms, sensors, system wiring, and computerized alarm monitoring systems, alarm communication network, and fire/emergency system devices.
• Creates various reports that are used to document the operation of Fire Alarm Systems.
• Views electrical layouts contained on builder’s blueprints to determine appropriate fire alarm system to ensure compliance of electrical and fire codes.
• Assists with maintenance of computerized fire monitoring systems.
• Provides cost estimates for system installation to requesting departments.
• Installs fire alarm system components as assigned (panels, audible/visual alarms, pull stations, detectors, etc.) for purpose of providing enhanced or upgraded system capabilities.
• Reviews the fire alarm work of outside contractors (e.g. new school sites, fire system upgrades/expansions, major remodels, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring that the projects are completed and are within local/state/federal codes, regulations and specifications.
• Communicates with other trades (e.g. plumbing, electrical) to complete projects/work orders.
• Works with ASU Fire Marshall to ensure completion of inspections.
• Records and documents activities performed to convey information to co-workers and requesting departments.
• Responds to emergency situations during and after hours for purpose of assisting emergency responders and resolve immediate safety concerns.
• Uses ability to clearly communicate to perform essential functions.

What You'll Do
- Directs the activities of architects, engineers, designers, technicians, and contractors responsible for designing, constructing, and modifying support facilities.

Job Description:
Facilities Management, Grounds Services, Tempe campus, seeks a Grounds Irrigation Supervisor to manage landscape irrigation activities, with specific proficiency in irrigation knowledge, scheduling and components.
Essential Duties:
· Assist in programming all irrigation controllers – at the controller and/or at a desktop for cloud-based systems (CalSense 2000 & 3000, Hunter ACC2 & ICC2 with Centralus, Rainbird ESP, Irritrol, Rainbird TBOS, Hunter NODES, and/or other miscellaneous controllers).
· Utilize weather data and hydrozone information to develop irrigation schedules.
· Collect hydrozone information from the field and update controller legends, as needed.
· Create and update irrigation hydrozone maps on Google Earth.
· Maintain irrigation part inventory and purchase necessary irrigation parts and supplies.
· Keep irrigation storeroom in a clean and orderly fashion.
· Conduct irrigation flow checks and flag issues for repair.
· Assist with new controller installation.
· Document as-built information on new irrigation construction projects.
· Plan and assign tasks, projects, priorities and develop work schedules and equipment usage priority for Grounds projects.
· Review designs and plans, monitor ongoing construction, and perform pre- and post-project walk-throughs.
· Recommend and implement methods and procedures designed to increase overall effectiveness of the grounds irrigation operation.
· Evaluate operations and assigned facilities and develop recommendations for energy savings, safety improvements, and sustainable landscape techniques.
· Compile information for budgets, estimates and special projects. Develop budgets for equipment and programs.
· Monitor the expenditure of funds for facilities equipment and service to ensure control of activities required to maintain operating within limits or approved budget.
· Apply grounds management techniques, implement and maintain a sound safety program and instruct personnel in following appropriate safety standards and procedures.
· Analyze manpower requirements and issue specific assignments ensuring the most effective utilization of personnel and equipment.
· Inspect both finished projects as well as work in progress.
· Provide measures to ensure satisfactory performance, meeting established standards of irrigation systems, trees, shrubs and turf.
· Maintain up-to-date information on developments in irrigation systems.
· Prepare records and files and submit reports as required.
· Respond to irrigation related emergencies, some of which may occur outside a normal work schedule.
· Oversee the work of outside contractors and vendors for repairs and services.
· Use ability to clearly communicate to perform essential functions.
· Perform other duties as assigned.
DAYS AND SCHEDULE: Monday – Friday; 5:00 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.

Salary Range

Job Description:
The Office of the University Architect (OUA) and Capital Programs Management Group (CPMG), part of Facilities Development and Management (FDM), is seeking an Associate Director to lead a team consisting of an Assistant Manager, Design Managers (DMs), Project Managers (PMs), and Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), for design and construction projects, across all ASU campuses and innovation zones. Reporting to the Assistant Vice President for CPMG, the Associate Director plays a key role in executing project delivery by implementing and managing efficient and effective processes across the department.
Essential Duties
• Provide strategic leadership to a team consisting of an Assistant Director, PMs and DMs, overseeing workload distribution and project assignments.
• Coordinate with the project initiation team (Launch Team) on all new project requests, to include assigning team members to projects, reviewing project charters and estimates for accuracy, and ensuring a proper project transition to the implementation team.
• Support team members by ensuring they have the necessary resources, guidance, and oversight to complete projects on schedule and within budget.
• Coordinate with university stakeholders, administration, architects, engineers, contractors, and vendors during project execution.
• Assist PMs and DMs in developing Requests for Qualifications (RFQs) and Requests for Proposals (RFPs) to solicit professional services.
• Evaluate and recommend appropriate construction delivery methods, ensuring optimal efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
• Oversee the planning and scheduling of capital construction projects to ensure alignment with university objectives.
• Ensure project expenditures remain within budget allocations while tracking and controlling construction costs.
• Participate in the development and management of construction contracts and professional service agreements, ensuring compliance with university and regulatory requirements.
• Provide oversight to ensure all engineering and architectural drawings and specifications are accurate and complete.
• Direct and monitor compliance with building codes, safety regulations, and university policies throughout project execution.
• Attend and participate in construction meetings, providing direction on contract implementation and risk mitigation strategies.
• Meet monthly with university customers to provide project updates and address concerns.
• Prepare and present reports on project progress, budget status, and key program activities to university leadership and stakeholders.
• Develop and prepare Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) that measure the effectiveness of Project Managers and Design Managers, while also ensuring the equitable workload for all team members.
• Represent FDM/OUA/CPMG in planning activities with external agencies and participate in committees related to sustainability, vendor selection, hiring, and staff recognition.
• Drive process improvements in project delivery by identifying best practices and streamlining workflows.
• Ensure accountability for preconstruction obligations, particularly cost estimating and early-phase project budgeting, to prevent cost overruns.
• Support ASU’s commitment to sustainability and innovation by integrating best practices into project planning and execution.
• Supervise activities of subordinates.
• Coach and mentor assigned team members and provide performance-enhancing feedback. Provide or coordinate training to team members as required or needed.
DAYS and SCHEDULE: Monday-Friday, 8:00am - 5:00pm
